Mitchell and Scott's St. Regis Hotel, Washington, DC Wedding

Mitchell and Scott hosted their stunning wedding at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C. Set on a perfect fall day, the backdrop of the White House added an extra layer of prestige to this already regal event. The overall vibe of the day was sleek, timeless, and full of romance! The venue, with its rich history and stunning architecture, needed little decoration — it truly spoke for itself. But hold…did someone say sabrage? Of course, the couple had to honor St. Regis’s signature sabrage ceremony, popping champagne in style and making sure the celebration started with a bang (literally)!

One of the highlights of working with Mitchell and Scott was their intentional decision to work with vendors from the LGBTQ+ community. They took so much pride in supporting diversity, and you could feel that love and inclusivity woven into every detail of the day. The vendors, all true professionals, made this wedding a joy to be a part of, ensuring everything ran smoothly with love and dedication from start to finish.

And let’s talk about the fun details! Louis the Corgi ice cubes? Check. Signature drink named after said Corgi? Absolutely! Plus, Scott’s adorable Corgi cufflinks…it was clear that their cherished dog was with us that night. From sentimental table numbers with personal photos to a jaw-dropping photo backdrop and foam glow sticks that got everyone on their feet, every detail was both sophisticated and playful. It was the perfect balance of elegance and fun, with a few surprises to keep everyone smiling.

I’m so honored to have been part of Mitchell and Scott’s incredible day. Wishing them a lifetime of happiness, love, and plenty more memorable moments ahead! Enjoy these wonderful photos by Shawnee Custalow Studios!

Alex and Sam's St. Francis Hall, Washington, DC Wedding

Moody, a little vintage, unforgettable.  Alex and Sam are the vibe of the year for me; that IT couple. And let me tell you something about St. Francis Hall, it never disappoints in terms of beauty and old world charm.

Alex and Sam were so amazing to work with. Laidback, cheerful, and most notably fun AF. The atmosphere that they planned and created was one that filled the space with warmth and pure joy. I am confident that friends and family, and more importantly Alex and Sam will fondly reminisce on this magical evening for many years to come.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to Fred, Father of the Bride.  His perpetual humor and gentleness, and love for his ladies (Bride and MOB) will be something I cherish forever! I love my very own dad, but I also love me some Fred #bestdadever. Love the photo Leigh Anne captured of me and Fred!

Enjoy!

Winona and Matt's Lyon Park Community Center, Arlington VA Wedding

Winona and Matt had their wedding this past May at Lyon Park Community Center in Arlington, VA. Winona is larger than life! She beamed from head to toe the entire wedding day.  She is a bride who knew what she wanted and exactly how to make it happen! Matt is a groom who knew what his wife-to-be wanted and exactly how to make it happen! ;) Together, they planned an amazing day full of warmth and amusement for themselves and loved ones.

The slight rain and chill in the air could not put a damper on this special day. It was such a pleasure to help execute their vision. It was special to see how they incorporated their family and friends in many aspects of their wedding including the ceremony officiant, ushers, floral designers, and twinkle light stringers.  It was a sweet, sweet day, but also a little spicy thanks to the delicious Indian cuisine on the menu prepared by Spice Kraft. Enjoy this glimpse at their day with beautiful photos by Darcy Troutman Photography!

Lisa and Wren's Riverside on the Potomac, Leesburg VA Wedding

Lisa and Wren got married on a beautiful June day this past year, at the magical Riverside on the Potomac in Leesburg, VA. One of our favorite venues, the weather definitely worked for them and resulted in a stunning day!

The couple had a ton of performing artists friends (as Lisa herself is also in the performing arts), which resulted in personal, musical touches throughout the day including friends playing for the ceremony (and leading a recessional parade of sorts that felt New Orleans-esque), and as you’ll see - an EPIC first dance!

Personal touches continued with the florals being DIY’d, a relative conducting the ceremony, and many other close family and friends having been assigned very specific roles to include people near and dear to them as much as possible.

Last, but certainly not least, Lisa’s brother was photographer! We adore the photos that follow - be sure to check them out and start getting excited for summer with these images by Eric Einstein Photography. Although he’s based in Denver, he travels all the time - so definitely check out his amazing work.

Chaska and Josh’s Stone Tower Winery Wedding

We at The Plannery always love Stone Tower Winery weddings! It was a pleasure to be back there, and with such an awesome couple. Chaska was a super on-it bride! She planned everything down to the last private dance with her new husband before leaving the venue, which is such a super sweet (and sexy!) way to end the evening - I highly recommend ;) Chaska also was a designer extraordinaire and put together an incredible design notebook prior to the wedding to help all vendors achieve her vision - and everything went exactly how she imagined. One of the sweetest touches was a memorial table for Chaska's mom. It is always a sensitive thing to not have a close loved one there on your special day, but they commemorated her mother so beautifully.

Enjoy these stunning photos by Margaret Wroblewski (another one of our all time faves!) and reminisce about summer :)

Jordan and Zachary's Dockmaster Building DC Winter Wedding

I love me some winter weddings, especially on the water. This stunning bride and groom were dressed to impress as they cemented their love in classic Jewish tradition at the breathtaking Dockmaster Building, one of the awesome event spaces that the Wharf in DC can provide. One of my favorite touches: The couple incorporated books, old and new, from their personal library…a cornerstone of their relationship - and even incorporated flowers from book pages in the bride’s hair and bouquet!

Congratulations to Jordan and Zachary! Enjoy the spectacular captures from Brittany at Bee Two Sweet Photography

Lindsay and Jeff's The Assembly Room Baltimore Wedding

Where oh where do I begin with Lindsay and Jeff?! From their incredible taste, to their ooey gooey infectious love for one another, all the way to their bad ass, upbeat personalities, they are and will forever be favs of mine. As a month-of coordinator, you are not always looped into every step of the planning process.  Usually it is not until the day-of or post-wedding that I see things like the invitation suite. But with Lindsay and Jeff, just like one of their cherished guests, I too received the invitation to their wedding.  You should have seen the look on my face and felt the warmth in my heart when I opened the mailbox that day. WHAT SWEET CLIENTS I HAVE!! I will never forget their wedding date, it’s the best date in the world. My birthday, September 28th! I was exactly where I was supposed to be that day in 2019.

Lindsay and Jeff are true city-goers, married on the perimeter of downtown Baltimore at The Assembly Room.   When you soak in The Assembly Room and what it has to offer, you are soaking in Lindsay and Jeff.  It has them written all over it!  This couple was very meticulous in all of their vendor selections, which makes me so happy and honored that they chose me to be part of the team too! Given their diligence, it was particularly hard when the venue manager and I noticed that one of their vendors was shaping up to be an ill fit just a few weeks before the big day.  It is not always easy, but totally part of my job as a coordinator to break this news to Lindsay and Jeff.  Naturally, this was tough news for them to hear and all of us had to work tirelessly and quickly to replace this vendor.   Over the years, I have dealt with tears at weddings in the past, but this time was different.  This time it was before the wedding and it was one of my clients and we all felt the hurt on that dreaded call.  But it made us stronger and better as a client-coordinator force!

Wedding planning as a process can sometimes be hard and unkind, but in the end, it always seems to end up perfect and beautiful. Lindsay and Jeff had an AMAZING, AMAZING day. The evidence is in the photos by Peyton Rainey Photography and incredible video footage shot by Wild Light Films.  Enjoy - and congrats again to Lindsay and Jeff!

Julie and Charlie's Carnegie Institution of Science Washington DC Wedding

The Plannery loves, loves, loves the Carnegie Institute of Science. It really feels like home sweet home for me. If I am not mistaken, it is my most frequented venue working as a wedding coordinator and/or assistant.  It is safe to say that every couple loves the wedding venue they selected, but boy did Julie and Charlie REALLY LOVE their choice in Carnegie. Who can blame them? I am pretty sure that the thought of themselves posing in Carnegie’s infamous upstairs library led to the booking.  Lisa Rhinehart Photography delivered in capturing this darling couple and their wedding party in that unique space.  I bet if I were to invite myself over to Julie and Charlie’s home, I would find a large print of them in the library proudly displayed.

My last two couples including Julie and Charlie opted to have the gorgeous front doors of Carnegie serve as their ceremony backdrop, which I just love.  Don’t get me wrong, getting married in the center of the rotunda space is just as great too! I think somehow Julie and Charlie thought that this would lessen them being the center of attention, but of course that wasn’t the case. They were both way too sweet and stunning not to gawk at!

The couple was adamant about taking an all guest wedding photo and their guests were super happy to participate.  It will be a memory that they will surely cherish forever. Congrats again to Julie and Charlie!

Kaylan and Kyle Longview Gallery Washington DC Wedding

I love nothing more than a couple that knows exactly what they want. Kaylan and Kyle kept true to their visions throughout the planning process. Their style and tastes were interwoven in every single solitary detail - from the bar menu to calligraphy work, to the sprigs of rosemary at each place setting, all thought out so meticulously, and so them. It is no surprise with Kyle being part prominent figure in the DC food and beverage industry that their dinner menu (provided by Spilled Milk) was one of the finest I have seen thus far at a wedding. The main attractions being Pancetta-Wrapped Quail Roulade and a Mustard-Glazed Rockfish, YUM! Cocktails were served out of a specially crafted Jockey Box, CO2 Tank with regulator… ummmm yeah, I had to look that one up! :) And let’s not forget the extremely enormous bottle of Billecart-Salmon Brut Rose that Kyle surprised Kaylan with, a 3L Jeroboam to be specific. It was literally bigger than my head. This wedding was the epitome of intimate wining and dining among beloved family and friends- an absolutely incredible night of love and laughter in Washington, DC. Congrats again, Kaylan and Kyle!

Dodi and David's Shenandoah Woods Wedding

David and Dodi were wed in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain on a dreamy summer day in August. On that very morning, in the very same spot they exchanged vows, I saw the cutest brown bear roaming around just hours before guests arrived.  The only reason I didn’t freak out and am able to call it cute is because there was ample distance between myself and the furry guy as I worked to set up David and Dodi’s event. The Pavilion at Shenandoah Woods is such a gorgeous venue, offering magnificent views and sightings!

The vibe of the event reflected both David and Dodi’s lively, beautiful, kindred personalities equally. It was rewarding as a planner/coordinator to watch their ideas and visions unfold and come to life. In working with David and Dodi, it was clear that their plans were driven by passion, which in turn led to the most magical, meaningful, memorable day. The major highlights would have to be the following: 1) Dodi’s show stopping lace romper worn at the reception and 2) The Silent Disco!!!

As they celebrate their one year anniversary (boy does time fly!), I can only hope that they are still basking in newly wed bliss and that their passion is just as fierce as the day I met them! Congrats again, Dodi and David!
